Angel Inn Near IMAX, a Travelodge by Wyndham

The staff were friendly and tried to help, though they seemed short on resources. The front desk was so behind on laundry that they couldn’t give us extra pillows. Breakfast was inexpensive and cooked well. The room was another story: the bed frames were loose and rattled when someone breathed too hard, the mini-fridge clicked constantly, the shower was stained, and the towels had both stains and holes. It did what we needed, a place to sleep with a lock, but don’t expect much more. If you just need somewhere cheap, it’s fine. I’d spend a few dollars more for somewhere more comfortable.

Our friends got one of the remodeled rooms, and it looked bright, new, and really nice. Ours clearly hadn’t been updated: it was dark and old, with stained carpet, a cracked sink, and a tub faucet that kept dripping. The mini-fridge freezer was frosted shut, and the AC was noisy, though the bed was comfortable. The front desk and breakfast areas had been remodeled too. We paid part of our bill with Wyndham reward points and our friends didn’t, and I’d hate to think we got the older room because our rate was discounted. If you stay, be sure to ask for a remodeled room.

We just needed somewhere inexpensive to sleep after spending the day at silver dollar city, and this worked out fine for our one night. It was clean, the beds were comfortable, and my husband liked the breakfast. I’d stay longer too; there wasn’t anything wrong with the place.

The rooms were clean, even if the makeover looked shoddy, but they weren’t really ready. It was dark, with no light by the bathroom sink, and the loose shower curtain felt hazardous. Desk staff lacked hospitality; a little understanding and a smile would’ve made me less cranky about it. Makeup or shaving at the sink was precarious. Breakfast wasn’t good, the cups were cheap, and the plastic utensils bent like pretzels. I loved this place before Travel Lodge took over.
