I’ve enjoyed this place before, but the room I got this time in Building #4 was rough. The staff were kind, and the facilities are good, though old, but those rooms are badly dated. There wasn’t even a window to open for fresh air. The problems in my room kept adding up: the bathroom sink wouldn’t drain, there was no hot water in the kitchen, and I had to wait 20 minutes for hot water in the shower. The thermostat also didn’t work, so the room stayed uncomfortably hot the whole time, with no AC. I’d suggest Building 3 instead, those rooms seem nicer.

The pools and common areas were especially nice for relaxing after a day of skiing, and the staff were helpful and friendly. Our check-in went smoothly, and the whole place felt organized. The rooms were comfortable, spacious, and set up well for families. You can get to the slopes easily and walk into town, which made the location excellent for our Breckenridge ski trip. It isn’t ultra-luxury, but it’s practical and very comfortable. We’d come back.

The hot tubs were wonderful, and the pool felt clean and pleasant. It was tough to find a hot tub with space to ourselves, though, because it was so crowded. Spencer’s dining hall was pretty good, but on the expensive side. For cheaper food, you’ll need to go about 10 minutes out. The resort has buses around town, but figuring out where to catch one was hard, and the website was difficult to navigate when tracking them. We stayed in a one-bedroom suite. It was rustic, mostly clean, and had a beautiful view of the slopes. There were some issues with the dishes not being properly cleaned, stains on the dining table, and mold and hard water residue in spots in the bathroom. I had a great time overall, but the last night was upsetting. I slipped in the shower and fell, and the curtain rod came down. We called maintenance and the front desk twice each over two hours. They said someone would come right up, but it took much longer for it to be fixed. After our last call, nobody came to check on us or the room for more than 40 minutes. It made me feel like our injuries and the guests were a low priority. That was the extent of the problems, and otherwise it was lovely.

Tiffany, our housekeeper, was cheerful and smiling every day, and she kept the condo so clean. My husband accidentally left his phone in the suite when we headed to the airport. When we returned, housekeeping had already put it in lost & found. I was impressed by their honesty and kindness. We had a nice stay at Beaver Run Resort, and the price was great. The food on the property was much better than we expected. The hotel is older, though, and our suite’s bathrooms and kitchen are quite dated and could use renovation. The carpets also looked dingy.

I was there for six nights in late February, paying about $333 a night, and it felt well worth it. Building 4’s hot tub fits 20-plus people, and the adjoining pool is warm enough to cool off in. I tried the resort buffet once. The selection wasn’t huge, but there was plenty to eat for under $20: pastries, fresh fruit, eggs, sausage, hot and cold cereal, coffee, and juice. I also got a quick bite from the deli, which was expensive. A slice of pie and pizza cost about $13. The pizza tasted good, though it looked crummy. My room was in Building 4, probably the building’s closest to the mountain. The ski locker was on the ground level, less than 50 yards above the lift line, and I could ski right to the door and easily get to my room. From the window I could see the lift running. I’d booked a hotel room and was surprised by how spacious it was. There was a sleeping and shower area, a separate toilet room, and a small galley kitchen with a two-burner stove, dishwasher, little refrigerator, and enough cookware and utensils for three or four people, though I was there solo. The rooms are individually owned condos rented out by BRR. It was adequately furnished, with two TVs, one in the bedroom and one in the living area facing the mountain. The resort shuttle was okay, but it didn’t have a schedule and ran too infrequently. I downloaded the Breck transit app to check the free bus schedule into town. The yellow and brown lines ran every 10-20 minutes, taking you down to town and back all day and night. There’s a big City Market with a bus stop in its lot, handy if you want to make breakfast in your room instead of eating out.
