Hampton Inn & Suites Bremerton

It's a shame the location is great, because the place is a poorly run dump. We weren't told when booking that major renovations were underway, and I doubt it will be much better even after the work. They advertised a hot breakfast, but all there was were gross frozen microwave burritos that you could heat in a tiny dorm-room microwave. The fitness center was unavailable, too. A friend had holes in her room's walls, while the hallways, lobby and elevator reeked of cigarette smoke. The walls were paper thin, so I had to blast white noise on my phone to sleep. The bed creaked, the elevators were horribly slow, and there were other problems too. Bremerton badly needs a decent hotel.

We booked through Expedia, which was our biggest mistake. The room next to ours had someone with two dogs that barked all night. We called the front desk about it five times, and they eventually moved us to another room around 2am. That room had a broken toilet. I had an important speaking engagement the next day and only got a couple of hours of sleep. The whole ordeal was terrible. The woman at the desk in the morning basically brushed us off, and when I later asked for a refund for one of our rooms, they denied it. A terrible experience with the staff, the hotel and the follow-up.

I know renovations are underway, but the room I booked looked nothing like the picture. I live nearby and got a room for one night as a treat, so I could relax in a big jetted tub. It was a complete waste of money. It's a good hotel, and if I were traveling and just needed somewhere to stay, I wouldn't complain. But I booked for a specific reason and then found out the advertising was false. That's pretty disappointing.

We had a spacious, quite nice king room in a great downtown location, with a little view of the water. The bed squeaked all night every time we moved, though, so maintenance should definitely check it. Aside from that, it was a nice stay.
