Motel 6 Brenham, TX

Danny, the owner, was incredibly decent about the mess I made in the parking lot. I arrived at night in my big truck and had an accident while adding oil, leaving a mess. Instead of getting upset, Danny asked if I needed help. The next day, when I realized there was no lift or Uber in town and told him I’d be a while before I could come back to clean up, he even offered me a ride. The staff were pleasant, and the rooms are the best I’ve seen at a Motel 6 anywhere in the country. Highly recommend this place.

My brother and his family were stranded late at night after their new truck broke down outside Houston on the way home from his business convention. They had two children, their phones were dying, and electrical problems kept them from charging them. I was trying to arrange a tow and a hotel so they could conserve battery. Studio 6 Suites had a room with two double beds when other places were sold out. I was on the phone when my Hispanic sister-in-law arrived. The man at the desk was rude and seemed unwilling to rent her a room. He immediately made racial assumptions and comments, as if she planned to damage the property and party. She and my brother are a sweet young family in their thirties who own two businesses. I told him my husband, who is white, had just called about a room under his business account. Then the man said yes and agreed to rent it to her. Maybe she didn’t look her best after a day at the convention, being stressed and stuck in a truck all night. They had few options, so she gritted her teeth and stayed polite. The boys were cold, and they just needed somewhere to rest. The truck wouldn’t be ready by checkout the next morning, so she paid for another night. It was ready around 1:30 pm, and they were happy to have a vehicle again. When they returned to check out, a woman said she needed to inspect the room because she was sure they had messed it up and the hotel would keep the full hundred dollars for cleaning. They were accused of cooking in the room and making ramen in the towels, which wasn’t true. My sister-in-law went with the woman to see what was supposedly trashed. The only thing they pointed to was a hand towel. One of the boys had used it to wipe his face, but it was nothing that wouldn’t wash out. It was a white towel they should be bleaching anyway. They charged another $30 for it, as if laundering linens weren’t part of the service. She was leaving early even though checkout wasn’t until 11 the next day, and for some reason they were upset about that too. They kept disrespecting and belittling my family over trash in the room. I thought that’s what trash cans were for, though maybe I’m wrong. They’re small, so sometimes you can’t fit everything and have to stack it up. I’ve never heard of being charged for that. If you want clean linens, cleaning included in the price, breakfast, and friendly customer service, choose somewhere else. I’d give less than one star if I could. I normally don’t take the time to review, but my son was treated the same way at another property owned by these people, and now my brother’s family has been too. The experience was awful, especially after the local community had gone out of its way to help and restore our faith in humanity. Shame on you, Studio 6 Suites/ Motel 6. I hope you or your family never get treated the way mine did. You’re what’s wrong with the world.

The very sweet man at the desk got us checked in quickly at the last minute. The rates were great, and the rooms and bathrooms have been completely renovated. Definitely a hidden gem. Highly recommend.

My stay at Motel 6 was comfortable and nice. The place has recently been renovated, and the rooms were very clean. The woman at the front desk was super helpful with any requests. I’d stay here again.
