Homewood Suites by Hilton Brighton

A sharp table left me with a bump on my head, and the room was a mess of a stay from the start. We booked it to enjoy our vacation on Valentine's Day, but there was no hot water. Since we checked in late, we assumed it just needed time to warm up and only realized the next day that it had likely been out since we arrived. I contacted the manager when she came in that Monday, but she didn't seem to care or try to help. I still haven't heard about the full refund, and I doubt anyone who had no hot water got one. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

We'd stay again. Breakfast each day had a great range of options and was really good, and the lobby pantry had items you could buy. The pool area was nice, and our king suite had lots of open space with a very nice layout. The hotel was very clean, though the rooms, walls and carpets could use an upgrade.

There are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby, and breakfast was okay and looked well cared for by the staff. The rest of the place feels like it hasn't been updated since 1998. The carpets were sticky, furniture in the room was stained, the walls were dirty, hairs were in the shower, and the public bathrooms weren't clean or maintained well. It needs a major remodel.

The hotel's large rooms are really worn and could use some TLC. We were on the second floor, and the first night the people above us made a lot of noise late into the night, like someone kept dropping luggage or a bowling ball. That wasn't the hotel's fault. The outside door never locked during our weeklong stay, and anyone could get into the gym without a key. I felt uneasy working out when that door was unsecured. The laundry room did need a key, but smelled strangely like old water, so we used a laundromat in town instead. The location was good and we didn't hear traffic. All the staff were so nice and helpful. Breakfast was fantastic each morning, though there weren't many vegan options. I'd stay again, maybe in an updated room. I expected more from a Hilton Hotel.
