Americas Best Inn Brinkley

There was nobody at the property when I arrived a few hours after making my reservation. I tried calling and got no answer, so I left and stayed at BW, 20 miles away. Now they're saying I stayed there and won't refund me, even though I have proof I didn't. They basically took my money, and still nobody answers the phone. The parking lot also looks like a lawsuit waiting to happen. I will never stay there.

We booked Room 103 for a week starting June 20, 2025, while looking for a home. I have severe anaphylaxis and am disabled, so I always bring cleaning supplies and disinfect wherever we stay. At first, the room seemed usable for our purposes, and I found a few dead beetles, which are normal for the area. But within hours, roaches were everywhere. The front desk was dark and closed for the night, despite the motel claiming to be open 24/7. We took photos, packed our bags, and put them outside to spray. Then my husband found a roach on the bed I'd sat on. He lifted the mattress and found a hole eaten through it, with a serious roach infestation inside. We hadn't slept on it because I was still cleaning and planning to change the sheets. If we had lain there and I got bitten or sick, we might never have known what was hiding in that mattress. We called the after-hours number and left a message, but got no response. We spent the night in our truck, waiting for management to open. At 8:00 AM, manager Mrs. Wilson answered. We showed her photos of the roaches, damaged mattress, and other insects. She apologized and offered the room next door, which we turned down because we could see roaches, flies, gnats, and what looked like bed bugs there too. She gave us a partial refund of $200, minus taxes. The boy who had been cleaning Room 103 told my husband we were its first guests since the last tenant had been found dead there. The property looked run down from the start, and check-in was through a window. A young boy, about 13, was finishing the room when we arrived. We assumed someone would come help him and that he was assisting his family business. Other doors were left open overnight, too. The conditions in that room were unsanitary and a health risk. I strongly advise people to find somewhere else. I'm contacting the Arkansas Department of Health, and I don't understand how the motel has kept operating. The photos taken of the property don't match what it looks like now.

Please note that we're America's Best Value Inn at 2005 N Main Street in Brinkley, behind Taco Bell. Chris, the general manager, works here, and we changed ownership on Jan 1st. Our rooms have been updated, and I'll add photos. The reviews mentioning Chris are for our hotel. We're not sure why ABI is listing America's Best Inn at 2002 Walker Drive under our address. Those negative reviews are for that other property, so please don't attribute them to us.

The room was huge and the location was handy, with a truck stop and restaurants within walking distance. The bed was comfortable, I think it had memory foam, and there were toiletries like toothpaste, a toothbrush, lotion, and shampoo. But there was black mold, so I won't come back.
