DoubleTree by Hilton San Francisco Airport North Bayfront

The location worked really well for my work in Burlingame and social events in San Francisco. I stayed four nights on the 8th floor, facing the highways. Traffic could be heard, but it wasn't too bad. The shower water wasn't hot and the pressure was weak; after I reported it, the team did their best to address both issues. This isn't the best Hilton I've stayed at, but the staff were very helpful and friendly, and they responded quickly when problems came up. A special thanks to Shannon, the operations manager at the front desk, who went above and beyond to fix my erroneous billing issue. I appreciated how hard the whole team worked to make guests' stays better, and I'd recommend giving this hotel a try.

For $43 per day, parking felt outrageously expensive, especially since the lot wasn't covered or secured. The only parts of the hotel I found average were the staff and its location near the airport. Our room was on the 3rd floor, looking straight at air conditioning units. The 2nd floor had the same view, and I think rooms like these should be closed or used for storage. The bedding was old and coming apart, and the elastic on the mattress protector no longer held it in place. I expected much better from a 4-star hotel. This felt like a 2-star place at most, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

The rooms were good, and the cookies were a nice touch, especially since they were served hot and fresh. The pool was dirty, there was no free breakfast, and the photos of the hot tubs had fooled us. It was basically a regular DoubleTree, not awful, just not a favorite.

There wasn't much around the hotel, even though its location made it easy to get to the city and other parts of the Bay. Costco was about 10 minutes away, handy for cheap water and gas. The property sits in a biotech business area, so it was quiet on the weekend and busy during weekdays. The rooms were ordinary, but the bed frames made a lot of noise whenever we sat down. The bathrooms weren't great either, with weak pressure at both the sink and shower and nowhere to hang our things. Staff were fine and the service was okay. We didn't get any cookies during our stay, a miss for a Double Tree. Parking was crazy expensive, with nightly rates higher than tourist areas like Fisherman's Wharf or the theme parks around LA. I'm glad the property replied to my review and plans to use it to improve things, but that doesn't fix the poor experience my family had on vacation.
