DoubleTree by Hilton Milwaukee - Brookfiel

I was surprised by how good this hotel was. The gym was quiet and clean, and the machines and weights looked new. The pool and hot tub are right next door. My room was quiet too, and housekeeping respected my privacy. Room service is by request, which I liked. The staff dressed nicely and were very professional. 10/10.

The hotel interior is nice, but the room feels dated. The dresser was falling apart, and every time I opened the fridge door, pieces fell onto the floor. The AC/heater seemed to run constantly even with the continuous fan turned off. The thermostat didn’t work, so there was no point using it. I’d recommend Home2 Suites or Tru, about eight minutes away.

The room was very clean, with nice linens on the bed, and it was quiet enough to rest. Jes at the front desk made check-in really easy, and Mel at the bar/restaurant was amazing. Great stay.

The location is the only thing I can recommend if you need a hotel in this area. The Doubletree at Brookfield feels only a little better than a Super 8. The beds are rock hard, the shower water never gets above tepid, and management doesn’t keep the website up to date. The in-house restaurant has maybe a dozen menu items, none prepared especially well. When I arrived, the restaurant was closed. Apparently it had been shut for two weeks over the holidays, but unlike other Hilton hotels nearby, this one hadn’t updated its website or app to say so. I chose this Hilton instead of a Marriott because of that. Tonight at the restaurant, the bartender was so busy talking about her family’s health issues that she wasn’t keeping track of what the other customers needed. I skipped my usual second beer and left. A bartender should listen to customers’ problems, not go on about their own. Doubletree advertises a cookie at check-in, with signs all over the hotel, but I never got one. That was the last straw. After many years of excellent stays and then a few years of mediocre ones, I’m done with Hilton. The quality has slipped, the service is deteriorating, and the attitude feels like nobody cares. This stay was below mediocre.
