Newbury Inn

The staff were very friendly, the room was spotless, the bed comfortable, and the free WiFi worked without a hitch. The inn is small and looks like it hasn’t been renovated in a long time, though it’s well maintained. Breakfast was a bit cheap: no orange juice, and I had to ask for milk and cream cheese. Not a big deal, and the stay itself gave me no problems.

It’s an older place, and the front desk service was okay. Expect to provide a credit card and a $100 deposit. Our room was freezing and took around three hours to warm up. The jetted tub was dirty, so we cleaned it ourselves before using it. We skipped breakfast because there wasn’t much on offer. Fine for one night, but I wouldn’t recommend staying longer.

We’d been on the road all day, stuck in traffic through New Jersey and New York, and finally drove until 11 p.m. before finding this hotel. The entrance had a sign saying it was closed from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m., but a phone outside said to call for help. A man answered right away and came down to assist us. I was surprised they’d wake up so late and were so willing to help. The room was clean, with comfortable beds, plenty of towels, and a nice shower, and we got a great night’s sleep. They also provided a light breakfast the next morning until 10. The service impressed us, and we’d stay again if passing through.

After my son’s football game, I stayed here. Shopping areas like Wal-Mart and Stop and Shop are about a 10-minute drive away. The room looked all right at first, but the reverse side of the bedspread had a huge yellow stain that might have been urine. The husband and wife who did housekeeping were friendly and quickly took it away. They offered a replacement, but I declined. The continental breakfast was terrible too: stale cereal and bagels, plus milk at room temperature, which I didn’t like. I won’t stay at Newbury Inn again. Please work on improving it. Thank you.
