Super 8 Brookings

It was about 10 minutes from SDSU, right by the exit and close to food. The hotel and room were clean, the beds were comfortable, and breakfast was a tasty hot meal. It looked outdated but smelled clean. We didn't use the pool or hot tub, though they seemed to be working. The one issue was a broken lock on our door at night. Staff also seemed nearly absent when we checked in and needed breakfast help. Still, I'd stay again.

I've had a few dirty, disgusting stays at Super 8s, so I was skeptical at first. This one was immaculate, though, and we were very happy with our stay. Our host was helpful too.

The room was clean and comfortable, the receptionists were pleasant, and the price felt like good value. The Wi-Fi and TV connections were a bit weak, but not a serious problem. Breakfast, though, was the main disappointment. We came down at 9:00 and the bread, omelettes, and sausages were almost gone. Nothing was replenished, even with a room full of people still eating, so there wasn't enough to go around. The woman at the front desk explained that they make only a set amount early in the morning to reduce waste, and it had run out. I agree that conservation matters, but not when guests don't get the breakfast they were promised. I emailed the manager and will see whether they respond.

We found the breakfast good, maybe those were eggs, and the attendant was very helpful. The desk clerk handled our check-in efficiently around midnight, after we pulled into Brookings using the Wyndham app to find a motel. We'd left the Sioux Falls airport at 10:30 pm, facing a 157-mile drive north in freezing rain. I'd stayed away from Super 8 motels after a bad experience, but this one seems to have new equipment and other improvements in the rooms and throughout the motel.
