Quality Inn & Suites Brooksville I-75/Dade City

I didn't realize when I booked that Quality Inn & Suites was 40 minutes from the airport. I was looking for somewhere comfortable to stay for a few days after landing, and it had come highly recommended, so I reserved anyway. It lived up to that 4.5-star recommendation. The place was quiet and comfortable, breakfast was nice, and the pool looked good for the spring and summer months.

The place smelled bad, there wasn't even a hook for my coat or purse, and the pool was out of order. I killed a roach and left as soon as I could. Thankfully, we got a refund for the extra nights we'd planned. This place could've done a lot better. I'm done with Quality Inns.

My family drove five hours to Brooksville for a Thanksgiving weekend trip, hoping to spend time together in Ocala/Croom and make some good memories with the kids. Instead, we left feeling taken advantage of and humiliated by the people running Quality Inn & Suites and Conference Center (FL663). The whole thing was emotionally exhausting and financially devastating. I had first booked Nov 27-30, then properly canceled through Booking.com on Nov 26. That same day, I made the correct reservation for Nov 26-29, and Booking.com sent the confirmation to my Gmail. But the hotel claimed there was a third reservation for Nov 27-30 that I never made, never saw, never received by email, and couldn't find in my Booking.com account. They charged me $96.50 for a no-show, even though I arrived in the lobby at 3 AM with my tired children, checked in, upgraded the room, paid $100.35 plus a $50 deposit hold, got a receipt, and was handed the keys. They saw me check in and still took more money. Fabiola at the front desk was kind and told me to contact Booking.com, which I did immediately. Booking.com confirmed they hadn't charged me and even contacted the hotel to correct the issue. At first, the general manager, Shail Patel, agreed to refund the charge minus $25, and I thought someone finally understood I'd done everything right. Then he changed his mind. He refused the refund, blamed me for a reservation I'd never made or seen, and dismissed my explanation, proof, and emails. He didn't seem to care about our long drive, the kids, our holiday plans, or that I'd paid for the stay. There were other problems, too. At 3 AM the sofa bed had no sheets, pillows, or blankets for the children. The next day the bathroom lights and electricity stopped working, and I had to go downstairs again asking for help while my family sat in the dark. We stayed and paid, but the hotel still punished us for what I believe was its mistake. This wasn't only a billing problem. It ruined our Thanksgiving weekend and left me feeling powerless, ignored, and betrayed. I'll never forget being blamed on a holiday after traveling so far with my children. Absolutely never again. Families, please be careful.

The beds were comfy, but the place was pretty gross. We had the king "Suite," which felt musty and like it was from around 1960. I got four extra sheets to cover the furniture and disinfectant to wipe down the toilets and handles. The toilet seat wobbled, and the smoke detector had no battery. We kept telling ourselves it was just one night. 👎
