Courtyard Milwaukee North/Brown Deer

The checkout with Lena and Lori was what really made our stay. They asked about it with genuine care, handled the bill quickly, and were warm and friendly. Lori checked that we hadn’t left anything in the room, and Lena offered bottled water for the road. That thoughtful service turned a good stay into a great one. We also had a prompt, courteous check-in with the gentleman at the desk, who got us to our room quickly after a long trip. Our stay at the Courtyard was wonderful from arrival to departure. Thanks to the whole team, especially Lena and Lori, for ending our trip on such a high note. We can’t wait to return!

Trinity at the front desk was very nice, and I hope she can find a way to improve this dump of a hotel. My advice is to look elsewhere. We were a family of four and rented two rooms at the Courtyard by Marriott in Brown Deer, Wisconsin. Room 305 had a bunch of dead bugs on the windowsill, brown marks on the bathroom wallpaper, and a shower curtain that was too short. In Room 306, the window screen was torn, the shampoo and body wash bottles were empty, the tub caulking was bad, the toilet took forever to flush, and the lighting was poor. The hallway constantly reeked of weed despite this being a nonsmoking hotel. The pool has been closed by the health department for YEARS, and the slow, rickety elevators could use a safety inspection. Nobody ever staffed the onsite Starbucks, and breakfast wasn’t offered as advertised. We couldn’t believe this was a Marriott property.

At about midnight, ready to sleep, I arrived to check in and found nobody working in the lobby for an hour. I called the corporate number, and they had to book me at a different nearby hotel. I was charged for both hotels and have called three different times to dispute the charge. Nobody apologized or offered compensation, and I still haven’t been refunded for the hotel I couldn’t even check into. Everyone I’ve spoken with has acted like I’m inconveniencing them because they couldn’t have someone on staff at the hotel.

The staff we dealt with were great, but the room’s HVAC was terrible and couldn’t cool it down. Breakfast was free, though basically just cereal. The gym was a few weights and treadmills in a closet, and it wasn’t maintained.
