Montrose Farms Alpaca Ranch

Lori is a lovely host, and I’ve visited several times. It’s easy to see the animals are loved and well cared for, and the peaceful farm is kept up nicely. Tucked away but still close to everything, it’s a great escape from the city bustle. There are events through the year, like yoga and painting, and it’s a good place to take kids to learn about self-sustained gardening, alpaca and other animal care, and a vegetarian lifestyle. There are no crowds or overpriced merchandise. This is definitely my “happy place,” and I’d encourage everyone to visit at least once.

We brought our soon-to-be 4-year-old daughter to the farm today and had a lovely time. The host walked us around her small farm and explained the beautiful animals. The alpacas were adorable and really soft.

I’ve been to the alpaca farm twice, for a fall open house and a Black Friday shopping event, and I’m sure I’ll visit again. The owner is lovely and happy to talk about the animals and answer questions. It’s not a petting zoo, but it’s a worthwhile, enjoyable visit for adults and kids who love these adorable creatures. We enjoyed watching the alpacas and taking photos both times. Just don’t expect full access to the farm and animals on open house days.

It’s an amicable, beautiful place, and the alpacas are adorable. I walked around the grounds with the owner, Lori Lovely, who answered my questions and talked about each alpaca. The staff are helpful and knowledgeable, too. Tours only allow a small number of people, so it’s easy to keep your distance, it doesn’t feel packed, and there are plenty of alpacas to see. The excellent gift shop has items knitted from the farm’s alpacas. A great way to spend time outdoors. I’d recommend it.
