La Quinta Inn Suites By Wyndham Brunswick Golden I

We got in at 2 a.m. after a long drive, and the desk staff were so kind and welcoming. Our American Bully was thrilled, especially when she got a treat. There was a quiet area with plenty of grass and room to walk her, and the pet fee was an affordable $25. Morning staff were just as friendly at checkout after breakfast, and the cleaning staff were already working and greeted us warmly. The rooms were clean and spacious, though the carpets could use cleaning, as is common in hotels, and our showerhead needed a more thorough scrub to prevent mold. This hotel is on our road trip list and we'd gladly return.

The breakfast was my one letdown. The eggs tasted bad, with no toppings to help, and there weren't as many choices as at most hotels. Fresh fruit and other healthy options would make it better. Otherwise, the place was clean and comfortable, with friendly staff, cozy decor, and lots of amenities. Our room had a kitchenette, a couch area, and two TVs. The hotel sits in a nice area where you can walk to restaurants, including Toucans, and the back side has a great, peaceful view with no traffic noise. I'd definitely stay again.

The puppy area was fantastic, and the new hotel was super clean, including the rooms and dining area. I only gave it four stars because breakfast was lacking quite a bit. The potatoes were completely raw, the eggs were okay with sausage gravy, but there were no biscuits for the gravy or other meat for people who didn't want sausage with it. Everything else was standard fare.

I had to spend almost an hour getting into a room that was paid for before I arrived. RHONDA at the front desk first said the room I'd booked through a third party wasn't available because the hotel was sold out, though the parking lot barely had cars. Then she said she had no keys. After ten minutes on the phone, customer service confirmed my room was available. I walked back in while still on the call, and she laughed as if it were funny before saying they did have my room and keys. The service was horrible, she lied to me repeatedly and never apologized. When I said I would report her, she gave me a fake name. I've never had so much trouble because a front desk clerk wasn't doing her job properly, and it seemed like lying to customers was something she did regularly.
