Boarders Inn and Suites Brush (ex.Microtel Inn by Wyndham Brush)

The price was good, and Carlos was courteous and helpful. We’ve stayed here twice in the past few months, and the location is convenient for getting on and off the interstate. The breakfast is okay, nothing fancy. Avoid room 127 if you can. One wall backs onto the stairwell, and it shakes and gets quite noisy whenever people use the stairs. There’s no elevator, so everyone on the second floor takes them.

It’s in a quiet small town location, and I felt safe there. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the room was clean and comfortable, though dated. The price was good, and breakfast was hot. I didn’t use the pool or exercise room. There was some construction going on, so they’re fixing the place up. I’ll stay here again next time I’m passing through.

Breakfast was offered, but there wasn’t a thing in there I’d eat. The milk was in an open gallon rather than separate cartons, which felt like too much sharing. The food was either drowning in sugar and frosting or days old and turning brown. Not impressed. It’s a shame, since we stayed here years ago and it was much better then. There aren’t many choices in Brush/ Akron. The woman at the front desk was the best part, very nice and helpful. The room was another story: the coffee maker was dirty, there were no cups, and the fire detector had been taken apart, presumably for battery replacement, and never put back together. The door wouldn’t latch or lock unless you pushed on it. One wall had two different shades of white, a very obvious rushed attempt to match the paint. There were also lots of dead bugs by the entrance on the west side of the first floor.

The room was comfortable and clean, and breakfast was sufficient. The front desk staff weren’t very pleasant on the phone, though much better in person. I took the room because the other hotels in Bluff and Fort Morgan were booked. I would’ve preferred somewhere else, but there were no options left. I didn’t try the pool. It’s not pet friendly, with a $200 charge if an undeclared dog is found, even though there’s plenty of grassy walking area for pets.
