Holiday Inn Express & Suites Bryan - College Station by IHG

The rooms were quiet, roomy, and well designed. Ours had plenty of USB ports and outlets, plus a chaise that was just right for reading late at night. It’s a handy location set back from the road, so there wasn’t much noise. There’s designated parking for IHG members, lots of accessible spaces, complimentary breakfast, a small business center, and a lounge area. The team who checked us in and out were both awesome. I wish I’d gotten the young ladies’ names. You can tell a lot from how a hotel greets you, and they kept that same great attitude as we were leaving. Kudos to a top tier team. We’ll definitely consider staying here again.

The place has been clean, quiet, and convenient on my other work trips, and I’ll stay here again. But last time was really irritating. A few days after icy weather in Texas, my coworker and I arrived around 10pm and waited more than 15 minutes for anyone to come to the front desk. I called the hotel, nobody answered, and we could hear the phone ringing behind the desk. When someone finally showed up, they said they’d been busy changing thermostats on the third floor. My room was on that floor, but its thermostat was still set to cooling. I switched it to heat at 75, and it took ages to get the room comfortable. I forget the starting temperature, though my photo showed 52F. I was exhausted from traveling and just wanted to sleep. A hot shower didn’t warm the room much either. It took a few hours. I fell asleep after about two hours, when it was in the low to mid 60s. I prefer a cozy 72. My coworker was on a different floor and had no issues. I would’ve changed rooms, but didn’t expect it to take hours to heat up.

I stayed three nights, and on the second night someone asked if I was a food delivery service. I’d come in with my husband and child and our takeout, like plenty of people do. Maybe I looked ragged after days of caring for my father, who’d just had heart surgery. The worst part was the late checkout. My father had a HEART ATTACK and was recovering in the room. As a benefits member, we could request a late checkout, and three different people told me 2:00pm was approved and there’d be no issue. But at 11:47 his key had already been deactivated. This was disorganized and a sad representation of Holiday Inn Express. The staff made this a horrible experience. I don’t recommend them.

The bed and pillows were comfortable, and the sheets and comforters were clean. The wall mounted thermostat controlled the AC and heat, and both seemed to work great. I had a really nice stay and would highly recommend this place.
