Bryce Canyon Pines

The staff were polite, but the whole experience felt disrespectful. For my birthday, we booked a room with a fireplace because it looked wonderful in the photos. Instead, we got a strange room at the far end from the office that looked nothing like the listing. I complained right away. They said the pictures on Booking were wrong and that the fireplace rooms were closed for the season. We were moved to another room, which was somewhat better but still not what we had booked. The heater was extremely noisy, and the room wasn’t nearly as cozy as we expected.

This isn’t about the rooms or service. The bright vacancy sign by the road looks jarring amid such beautiful nature, and to me it’s less inviting than the lodge sign down the road. I hope they choose something in the future that creates less light pollution.

Parking was easy, and having a restaurant next door was convenient. The room was spacious, and the beds were comfortable, but our door was hard to open and needs a new lock. We could also have used several hooks in the bathroom for towels and toiletry bags, plus a bigger nightstand or a second one. We had to pull up a chair to use as extra space. There was a little highway noise, too.

The hotel is convenient and comfortable for a quick night after hiking, and I felt safe the whole time. We used the pool and hot tub after a day at Bryce Canyon, which was really nice. The restaurant was delicious, and the servers were very kind. The staff were welcoming, and we had hot water throughout our trip. I was nervous about staying here after reading recent negative reviews, but I didn’t run into the issues people mentioned. The room was clean and comfortable, though very dated. That didn’t bother me. If you want a five-star hotel, this isn’t it, but I’d stay here again.
