Santa Ynez Valley Marriott

The front desk staff were quite friendly. Breakfast was fine, and the food quality was very good despite the humble setting. The bed, though, was very uncomfortable, too springy and saggy with little support. Maybe it’s overdue for replacement.

The heater in room 400 couldn’t be fixed, though the maintenance person was very understanding. He arranged room 431 for us, but we couldn’t turn off the heater there. Since we were only staying one night, we just put up with it. We were cold in the first room, and the second one wasn’t much better. Not the getaway we expected.

The room was spacious and had everything I needed, and the location was convenient, about a 10-minute drive from Solvang. I got to visit some shops there. I also tried the hotel restaurant and really enjoyed the beet salad. I loved my stay.

The room TV’s WiFi still isn’t fixed, so I’ve had to use my laptop as a TV. The so-called maintenance engineers don’t seem to know how to resolve issues, even something as simple as restoring the connection, and they didn’t come fix the air filter until I kept after them. Housekeeping also left the room trash in the walkway untouched after making the bed and taking out the restroom trash. I’ll look for somewhere else to stay instead of The Santa Ynez Marriott. Some staff behavior felt discriminatory and unprofessional.
