The Buena Park Grand Hotel & Suites

The room was clean and the beds were comfortable enough, though the property is worn and had some cobwebs outside. Service was the real problem. On our third night I got locked out and waited 30 minutes for someone to come to the front desk. Checking out, I waited another half hour because no one was there. At check-in I presented a credit card, but the booking had been made with a different card through Priceline. They charged more than $200 to the card I presented, even though there was no reason to charge it. The manager couldn’t figure out the charge or refund it. I had to dispute it with the card company, and it took two months to get the money back. What a joke. Supposedly they’re converting the property to Springhill Suites by Marriott. Hurry up.

The lobby has gorgeous antique style floors, but the furniture is dingy and dirty. I didn’t feel comfortable sitting on it, and the furniture throughout the property needs replacing. I know that’s a big job, but I think it could pay off in the long run. The rooms and property are dated, though they seem to be taking steps to renovate. The location is perfect, near great food and entertainment. The staff were amazing and accommodating. Every person on duty was kind and went above and beyond.

The staff at BP Grand Hotel are generous and welcoming, and the manager onsite is always a pleasure to speak with. That hospitality reflects well on the leadership. There’s a restaurant and pool in the center, a lovely fountain at the entrance past the lobby, and luggage trolleys to help move belongings from the car to the room. Guests can use the side entrances without an extra charge, and parking is included too. Compared with its competitor up the road on Lincoln and Gilbert, Marriott’s BP Grand Hotel & Suites far outshines the “boutique” place in services and amenities. It’s well worth spending on some much-needed TLC for yourself or your loved ones.

The toilet wouldn’t flush because its knob wouldn’t move, and the sink filled up immediately when I ran the water to wash my face. We’d been in the room for maybe five minutes before I asked my husband if we could find somewhere else. The building was older and the room very dated, which I could accept. But the front desk attendant had no name tag or branding on the uniform, which struck me as odd. I also saw reviews saying the restaurant onsite was closed because of a rodent infestation. When we looked online, it was still closed because the issue hadn’t been resolved, with another inspection scheduled in almost a week.
