Buena Park Hotel Near Knott's Berry Farm

The rooms were never cleaned during our three-day stay. On the first day, the housekeepers passed by around 8:30am while I had a Do Not Disturb sign up. I removed it about half an hour later, but I don’t know the company’s policy or why they didn’t return. I thought the “Maid Service Needed” sign would get the room cleaned, and all we really needed was fresh towels. The next day I put up the “Maid Assistance Please” sign. When we got back around 7pm, it had been knocked off the door and our dirty towels were still there. The worst night, a couple had a very loud argument in the parking lot that went on for about 2-3 hours. My partner and I went outside around the 1.5-hour mark. Other guests seemed to be leaving or moving rooms, apparently from the rooms right above where the couple was fighting. Nothing seemed to be done, though maybe no one else reported it. It was incredibly loud. The first night, our standard one-bed room had strange stains, a big hole in the bathroom doorway covered with a quick layer of plaster, and exposed wires coming from under the connecting door. The hole’s location made it look like someone had kicked the door in, which didn’t make the room feel safe. It was somewhat noisy, but not enough to affect my sleep. Our phones barely charged overnight, too, as the outlets seemed weak. There were good points: clean, comfortable beds, great AC, and several solid food options within walking distance. Breakfast was decent, nothing special but it did the job. The check-in area looked very nice compared with the room. It was cheap and the older look doesn’t bother me. Knott’s and Disneyland are both nearby. Still, I was disappointed and felt it was necessary to leave a review.

The location worked really well for us. There are lots of food options nearby, Knott’s Berry Farm is an easy walk, and a city bus stop close by goes straight to Disneyland in about 25 minutes. The deposit was reasonable, much less than some reviews led me to expect. The property is older, but the rooms felt refreshed and cared for, and they were clean and comfortable. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. I had a really good stay and would come back, whether I’m visiting the parks or just need a comfortable, convenient spot in Buena Park.

The hot tub was cold, and the pool was clean but too cold for October. Breakfast was okay, nothing special. Our room could use some paint touch-ups, and it was a little dirty behind the beds. We looked carefully and didn’t find bed bugs. Still, it was a decent stay for the price. The front desk lady was really friendly, and there are great places to eat nearby, including Rocknbrew and Broken Yolk. We walked to Knott’s Berry Farm, and the hotel is close to Disney and major stores.

The staff were friendly and answered all my questions, and check-in and checkout were quick. There was plenty of parking and the breakfast had bagels, bread, waffles, cereal, coffee, juice and muffins, plus cream cheese, jelly, syrup and butter. Porto’s bakery across the street was a highlight, with Target and Walmart nearby too. I felt safe in the area, and it was close to the training center I was visiting. The bed was decent, and once I adjusted the fridge temperature it worked well, though at first it froze everything. The room itself fell below basic standards. The vinyl plank floor had gaps and was dirty. I wore brand-new flip-flops and their soles were nearly black by the time I left. Turning on the heating and cooling system brought out a urine smell. The shower was lukewarm to cold, and for a few days it was too cold for me to get in. Water drained poorly and quickly filled the stall. I ended up with foot fungus and needed medication. Thin walls let me hear neighbors on both sides and above, sometimes with a TV on all night. One outlet wouldn’t hold a plug, and my phone and watch barely charged because the power cube got very hot and stopped charging. The Wi-Fi jammed up my phone and was unreliable; I often had to leave the property before my GPS would start, and restarted my phone several times. Everyone who visited me had the same Wi-Fi problem. I don’t mind a dated room, but this one wasn’t a highlight of my trip.
