Budget Lodge Buena

The front desk man and housekeeping staff were both really friendly, and the shower had good pressure with reliably hot water. I’ve stayed here several times without any complaints. The rooms are clean and nicely priced. It’s not fancy, but it’s definitely good for what you pay. I haven’t seen any bugs, including bed bugs.

I’m sharing a room with friends while we attended a dog training seminar, and the motel’s pet-friendly listing was one reason we booked. The pet fees varied wildly: I paid $20 a night for one dog, a friend with three dogs paid $15 a night, another was charged $10 a night, and one person paid nothing. They apparently go into rooms while guests are out, since staff complained to some friends about dog hair. But they didn’t clean the rooms. They waited until we came back to ask if we needed anything, even clean towels, which they didn’t provide daily. In my opinion, the place and staff are borderline scammy and definitely creepy. Stay at your own risk. Absolutely horrible. I tried to leave a zero-star review, but the system required me to select one star.

After an eight-hour drive to visit for the holiday weekend, all I wanted was a hot shower and a clean bed without bugs. Instead, within five minutes I saw bugs in the bathroom and blood on the sheets. The refrigerator didn’t work and left a big puddle on the floor. I went to the office, but the man was rude and refused to refund me. He said he’d have the room cleaned, and I’d need to wait about an hour. After seeing the room, I didn’t want to stay there. I’d advise people not to waste their time or risk their health here.

I needed WiFi for work, but the front desk clerk was extremely nasty and pointed to an old sign saying it wasn’t working. He said sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t, and since it’s free I couldn’t complain. The sign looked old, so it seems this has been an issue for a while with no plan to fix it. The room was filthy and full of flies, impossible to sleep in. When I asked to cancel the second night, the clerk told me to contact the online booking site for a refund. We bring groups of kayakers here several times a year and had recommended this place. After this horrible experience and the clerk’s rudeness, we’ll make sure nobody in our group stays here again.
