The gym is simple, though it has a water dispenser and towels that disappear quickly. There’s also a tennis court, but grass has overgrown it and the lawn areas. The room had a damaged TV whose picture I couldn’t adjust, and the coffee maker needed a thorough cleaning after previous guests had apparently made a mess of it. Smoking was supposedly prohibited, but cannabis smoke filled the halls and elevators. The outside door locks jam, so you have to keep your card against the scanner and pull hard. I wouldn’t want to be a woman alone trying to get in from the parking lot at night. I’d use the main entrance instead. The pool room is warmed by a floor dryer, but the pool itself is very cold. I wouldn’t recommend swimming at night once the temperature drops. The advertised restaurant is really a breakfast kitchen that costs extra. The bar never opened; the sign listed a small selection of everyday draft beers, and although they had beer from local breweries, we couldn’t try any because the bar area stayed closed. Breakfast is all you can eat, but food goes fast, including sausage, potatoes, watermelon, strawberries, yogurt, oatmeal, waffle batter, butter, jelly, and cereal milk. Get there early. Don’t arrive just before closing, since they pack up early when things run out and people take extra. You get what you pay for.

The staff were fantastic both times I stayed. It’s an older hotel, though the first-floor rooms I used were well cared for. I only had two complaints: there was cable but no streaming, unlike other Marriott associated brands. In my second room, I liked having a blackout shutter, but there weren’t any other curtains. To get sunlight, I had to be completely exposed to the courtyard and the other rooms.

Mary, one of the hotel managers, made a good stay feel unforgettable. She was patient, kind, and ready to help, and handled every interaction with a warm smile and real professionalism. It was clear she cared about guests being comfortable and satisfied. The room was spacious, very clean, and cozy, and the location was convenient while still being peaceful. Even checking in late at night went smoothly: the gentleman at the front desk was polite and helpful from the start. Our family had one of our best hotel stays in years at the Four Points by Sheraton Buffalo Grove. If you’re visiting Buffalo Grove, Illinois, it’s a solid choice, especially if you get to meet Mary. They’ve earned our loyalty, and we’ll be back.

There were dirty sheets and ants all over the beds, dressers, and floor. At 3 AM I woke up with them crawling on me and my kids. We were due to leave at 5 AM. The woman at the front desk asked why I hadn’t gotten another room, but when I went to bed I had no idea there would be an ant infestation. I contacted management and got no answer, then sent two emails. They didn’t address my refund at all, just said they’d tell housekeeping. Housekeeping can’t fix a construction issue. Ants are getting in through insulation problems in the walls and windows. DO NOTTTTTTTT BOOK HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The pictures are lies. It’s dreary and dingy. I’ll contact the BBB and submit photos and videos, and I’ll be waiting for my refund!
