Courtyard Buffalo Downtown / Canalside

Hailey was especially wonderful to the kids. Our food delivery never showed up, and it was already very late with the team still without dinner. She turned the ovens back on in the Bistro Bar and made sure they had flatbread pizza and fries before bed. Such a kind thing to do, and we really appreciated it. The whole hockey team was treated incredibly well by the hotel staff, from helping with a door lock issue to finding the team a place to play without disturbing other guests. The customer service at Courtyard by Marriott Buffalo Downtown/Canalside was top notch.

The room was modern and decent, though still fairly small. But the rest of the stay left me unimpressed. We came down to the restaurant at 7:15, expecting it to be open until 8, and were told it had closed. It was icy outside and there isn’t much nearby. There’s only one restaurant within walking distance, so anything else means driving or getting an Uber. At check-in, the woman seemed like she didn’t want to be there. I’d used a Platinum certificate for an upgrade and got a slightly larger second-floor room facing the parking lot. For a night when the hotel was empty, that was a poor upgrade, and there was no breakfast either. I wouldn’t stay here again unless I were going to a game, and especially wouldn’t come expecting recognition of Bonvoy Platinum status. I’ve stayed at lots of places in Buffalo and would choose the Westin or aloft if I wanted to be downtown. Just not worth it.

We had a great spot for our kids’ hockey tournament. It’s close to hockey, baseball, and downtown Buffalo, and the hotel was clean and well maintained. The staff were friendly, and both the pool and exercise room were in good shape.

A comfortable, dependable place to stay in downtown Buffalo. The rooms are modern and well equipped, and the staff were friendly and efficient. Having a fitness center and dining on site was convenient, and the location made getting around easy.
