Curtiss Hotel, an Ascend Collection Hotel

Room service was one of the best parts of our stay. The food came quickly, was fresh, and tasted incredible. We also loved the hot tub, which made the weekend feel extra special. We spent Valentine’s Day weekend at The Curtiss Hotel, and it was such a beautiful, relaxing experience. The room was gorgeous, spacious, and extremely comfortable, perfect for a romantic getaway. The staff made us feel very welcome, and we’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend for a romantic or relaxing stay.

My husband and I did the Staycation package and had an awesome time. The rooms were beautiful, and all the scenery around the hotel was just amazing. The workers were nice, and so were the other guests. It was such a beautiful, elegant experience. I’d definitely recommend it for a couples’ getaway and would do it again.

The hotel is pretty and in a convenient spot, but several things fell short. At check-in the front desk agent was great. The valet, though, was rude when we entered the wrong way and tried to park in the wrong lot without realizing it. Nobody else was around, and we obviously weren’t local, but he ran over yelling and told us we’d come in the wrong way and that the cones were there for a reason because spots were limited. I didn’t appreciate his tone. The room also wasn’t as clean as it should’ve been. We were three guests and I booked a room with a pullout bed, but there were no sheets, and the mattress pad underneath was stained and messy. There were smears or residue on some surfaces, plus someone’s used false eyelash in the bathroom. Not the end of the world, but for a five-star hotel at $400 a night, I expected more attention to detail. When we mentioned it at checkout, the front desk person just apologized and said we should have requested sheets for the pullout. I thanked her for listening and left it there, but the lack of response surprised me. The continental breakfast was subpar too, nothing special. This place has work to do.

We loved the live music at Vue Rooftop Bar on Friday night, and the hotel is surrounded by great restaurants and bars within a block or two. On our walk toward Canalside, we could see Buffalo investing in the Main Street infrastructure. The Curtiss was a gem for our wedding anniversary. The staff noticed the occasion and greeted us warmly. Our room was impeccable, and the integrated in-room tech was a real plus. The lobby, bar, and restaurant were all charming. We didn’t try the urban hot springs, but the setup looked cool. The complimentary breakfast bar was welcome too. You could easily spend the whole weekend inside, but there are plenty of walkable places nearby. A boutique hotel done right.
