Americas Best Value Inn Buford Mall of Georgia

I was really unhappy with this stay. The sheets and shower were dirty when I arrived, and there was hair on the floor. Bugs were all over by the door, and there weren't any hangers for my clothes. The towel rack wasn't mounted right and fell on my foot when I got out of the shower, bruising it. At least I was only there for one night.

For the price, it ended up being a decent stay. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated, and we barely had any trouble with other guests. The front desk was the frustrating part. The man there was difficult to communicate with, didn't ask what I needed, and seemed unsure what to do about my online reservation. Even after we spoke on the phone a few times, he just stared at me like I was crazy.

I was told checkout was at 11 am and asked for an hour to pack up, saying I'd leave happily after that. On the second morning, though, I woke to a call telling me it was my checkout day, as if I didn't know. The day before, housekeeping and the manager came into my room, thinking I wasn't there, then called and asked me to leave so they could clean. When I came back, my key card didn't work. For $70, you can hear someone coughing in the room next door.

The outside of Americas Best Value Inn looked alright when I pulled in, but the office felt unwelcoming. It smelled odd and was poorly lit, and I had to speak to the woman at the desk through a hole in the glass. When I asked about my reservation, she said I'd filled out the online paperwork wrong, quoted me a different price, and was pushy and rude. The room had plenty of problems too. The mattress was rock hard, and dirt and grime were on the mattress and box spring under the sheets. There were only three shower towels. My friend asked for another blanket and got a damp sheet instead. The showerhead was mildewed, the tub drain was rusty and had no plug, and there was long red hair on the back of the toilet. Several outlets were broken or missing covers. The door stop was broken and on the floor, and a hole where the door had hit the wall had been patched badly, with wire mesh showing through paint that didn't match. The walls and trim had discolored spots and chipped paint, including marks that looked like nicotine even though I'd been told it was a non-smoking room. We were told the cleaning ladies would go home without servicing the room if we didn't let them in around 9 or 10. After our last night, our work in the area kept us out late and we were just getting moving around 9:30 am. Checkout was at 11, but the front desk called at 10:30 to remind us we had half an hour left, which felt like being hurried. I wouldn't recommend this motel to people passing through the Buford, Sugar Hill, Marietta area. The service felt unprofessional and unhelpful, and the rooms seemed unkempt and unclean.
