Holiday Inn Express & Suites Burlington by IHG

The rooms are roomy and the staff are friendly, but there seemed to be some rooms where people were smoking. There’s a bridge right outside where homeless people gather, and a few guests had ankle monitors. The hotel is handy for McDonald’s, a coffee shop, and a gas station. Parking is somewhat limited.

When I called the front desk, the gentleman who answered just told me they don’t clean rooms every day. We’d been out for the day and came back to an unmade, dirty bed and all our used towels still in the bathtub, so we had no fresh towels. I’ve never stayed at a hotel that didn’t clean the room daily. It’s absurd, the service was horrible, and it costs too much. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

The fire alarms in my room went off for over 10 minutes at 8am, apparently because shower steam set them off. That’s what reception told me, since the bathroom fan wasn’t working. My kid was terrified. Reception did nothing, the repair person never came, and the manager never got back to me. Horrible service. They don’t care about guests’ complaints, comfort, or safety. Don’t bother with these people.

The property and rooms are nice, but breakfast was disappointing. We arrived half an hour before it ended and there was hardly any food left. Several of us were told it would take 20 minutes for more to be made. No more pancake batter ever came out, and there weren’t enough eggs for everyone, so we went out for breakfast the next day. At check-in, the front desk staff member was away for about 10 minutes. She said she’d been helping another guest, which is fine, but it would have helped to leave a note. I’m not sure we’d stay again.
