Burney Motel

The room situation worked out at first, but the way the manager handled it the next morning was really mean. We were four people looking for a room with double beds, and the only option we found was in Mt Shasta for $110, an extra 40 mi drive. We figured one bed and an air mattress for the other pair was better than driving that far. We arrived around 10pm, and a nice gentleman at the desk couldn't find my reservation, so he called the manager. The room showing in the system had already been given away, but he found us another one. I was just glad they still had a room. When we opened it, there was a second room with another bed inside, which seemed like a nice surprise. The next morning, my husband left the door open while he went to the vehicle, and Luann, who we later learned was the manager, came in. She immediately accused us of unlocking the other door and said we had to pay the difference for the second room, which would've been $169 since we'd paid only $96. I said it felt like we were being asked to cover their mistake. She insisted we should have booked for four, even after I explained that if a room says it sleeps two, you can only book two. She wasn't listening. If she'd approached it more kindly, I might have been willing to pay a little, but she was really mean.

I paid online, but the cashier said I hadn't paid and made me pay a deposit in cash. I never got that money back. The room was $300. I feel like they ripped me off.

The room was really nice and clean, and we were greeted warmly by very helpful people who knew the area well. It's a rare place that accepts dogs without any questions. The falls and other things to see and do are nearby, and you can park right outside your door.

The room was a good size, with amenities that all worked. The TV was good, and the WiFi and cell service were good too. Clean floors and bathroom, plus fresh sheets and a nice quilt on a good mattress. A very nice motel.
