We might stay again if we had no better option, but I think we’d look for another hotel. The room felt dated and needed a proper cleaning. Our window was already open when we arrived, and I’m not sure why. The TV remote was sticky and wouldn’t work, even after we wiped it with a Lysol wipe. Yuk.

The manager wouldn’t admit there was any smell, or even that he’d stayed in our room the night before. That was after we’d found crumbs on the furniture, something growing in the shower drain, and grime and crumbs in the AC unit. The pullout sofa looked like it had been picked up from the roadside, and its torn mattress had no sheets. The room was old, and we had to try the key around ten times before the door finally opened, even though it showed a green light. The whole building smelled of smoke, worse by the time we reached our room. The lobby felt like a liquor store, with a glass barrier, and the hotel was in an unfavorable area. The parking lot had lots of cars coming and going despite the building seeming nearly empty, which felt sketchy. This was the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. Do not stay here!

We slept well because the beds were comfortable and it was quiet. The hotel itself is run down and needs a lot of work. Breakfast didn’t have much to offer, but an employee pointed us to the reasonably priced Pancake House down the road, and it was very good.

The clean, airy suites and soft, comfortable beds made our weekend business trip to Chicago a delight. The kitchen was tidy and had plenty of breakfast food, too. My friends and I stayed at the picturesque Baymont Inn, where Ms. Jaya Guy and Mr. TJ went out of their way to make our group comfortable. If you’re planning a weekend or longer in Calumet City Chicago, Baymont Inn would be a wise choice. You can thank me later. N. Chambers -El

The tricky part was getting onto the street where the entrance is. That was my biggest issue. Inside, the room was clean and neat, though it could’ve used extra toilet paper. The staff were pleasant, so I have no complaints there. Breakfast was nice, with delicious waffles you make yourself. No meat, but it was filling all the same. I’d stay again.
