SpringHill Suites by Marriott Pittsburgh Butler/Centre City

The worst part was how our four-night booking was handled. After two nights, we were checked out automatically and had to check in again. My 78-year-old mother thought her things had been taken, which made an already disappointing stay stressful. We were also billed for two cars when we had brought one. There wasn’t a clear sign about a parking charge for the open deck. Manager Shannon eventually removed one charge, but was dismissive and unsympathetic, calling it standard practice. The hotel looked clean and fairly modern, but breakfast was a letdown. The food felt and tasted like cardboard, and the coffee was only passable. Housekeeping was another problem: when my mother asked for trash removal and fresh towels, she was told service came every other day. I understand having a schedule, but staff should help when a guest asks. There aren’t many hotel choices in Butler, PA, but I won’t stay here again. Customer service needs work.

The rooms are spacious, and the location makes it easy to walk to a lot of good restaurants. I’ve stayed here many times. In past years we could use the lobby to play cards or eat takeout, but this time we were told it closed after breakfast. The chairs had been put away and the TVs were off. When we tried sitting on the side couches, employees told us to leave, and they were rude about it. There was also a rule against having anyone beyond the registered guests in our room, so the two families meeting up couldn’t even sit together and play cards there.

I travel for work every week and have Titanium status with Marriott. The place looks nice at first, but the room problems have kept showing up across my four stays: stained, dirty shower, marks on the carpet, hair on the sofa, weak water pressure, and awful lighting. The TV has a blue tint on every channel too. I’ve waited to see if it would improve, but this is probably my last visit unless there’s no other hotel within 30 miles. Photos attached.

Coming back with my family is always a treat. We feel at home here, and the care from Rachael, Misty, and Shawn is a big reason why. They make each visit feel personal and are attentive well beyond what we expect. Misty is wonderful with the kids, always upbeat and engaging. Rachael handles every interaction with calm confidence and professionalism, while Shawn is consistently warm and flexible about helping with what we need. The hotel is very well run, and we’re glad to return.
