The staff made this feel like such a special escape. Alice, Alina in the kitchen, and the dark-haired man at the front desk were all so welcoming. He took time to suggest day hikes and waterfalls, and the kitchen team clearly loved their work and served everything with enthusiasm. I wish I’d gotten everyone’s names. I came with my family and my 94-year-old father, and we all had a delightful time. The place was spotless while still surrounded by nature, with Mt Hood views, gas fireplaces in each room, plenty of outdoor seating, and good food. There were games, s’mores, wildflowers, and cows too. I’d never tried glamping before, but I’d do it again. It was luxury camping with all the amenities, and I hope to stay at another Under the Canvas site.

The views of Mount Hood were beautiful, and the tent had a wonderful bed, shower, and toilet. The restaurant was decent, though service could drag during busy periods. I’m not sure we’d come back, sadly. We’d stayed at the Yellowstone location before and were curious about this one. I’d asked the reservations team for somewhere quieter, but we ended up in a tent near the lobby. That may be fine for people who stay up late, and the other guests did respect the rules, but with a kid, quiet hours starting at 10 pm didn’t help much. The tent also got bright very early, around 4 am for us, since the spring and summer sun comes up early. The shower was frustrating. Ours had a regular handle rather than a lever. Hot water took a minute, then turned cold after a few minutes, so we had to shut it off and turn it back on right away to get hot water again. Once we figured it out, it wasn’t terrible, just far from ideal. If you need a hair dryer, you have to go to the lobby bathrooms, where they’re mounted on the wall.

The power outage was caused by a widespread county utility failure, which was outside the staff’s control, but Eric and Morgan handled the disruption with real care. When the shower pumps stopped working in the middle of the night, night auditor Eric tried to troubleshoot them. Once it was clear they couldn’t be fixed, he drove us back and forth to the main lobby so we could wash our faces and brush our teeth. He was incredibly empathetic. The next morning, assistant manager Morgan was just as understanding about the interruption and immediately offered a fair, reasonable resolution. We’d come for one night to celebrate a birthday, and the property itself was beautiful. The team had even decorated our tent in advance, which was an amazing surprise, and every staff member we met was prompt and attentive. They turned a tough situation into a real show of hospitality.

We had a wonderful time at Under Canvas Columbia River Gorge. The place felt thoughtfully designed and relaxing, and since we don’t have much camping experience, the easy, comfortable setup was a great fit. We never felt overwhelmed. The yellow jackets were the one stressful part. Bring food outside and they’d swarm pretty quickly. Still, everything else was lovely, and we’d recommend it to anyone looking for a simple, low-stress way to enjoy the outdoors. The restaurant was great too, better than we expected from a glamping site.

We had 160 friends and family stay at Under Canvas for our August wedding weekend, and being able to gather everyone in such a beautiful spot and spend real time together was unbelievably special. The Mt Hood views were spectacular. It was the best weekend of our lives, and I think a lot of our guests felt the same. The thoughtful setup won over plenty of people who’d never glamped before and had been unsure about it. They left wanting to do it again. The staff were one of a kind: helpful, accommodating, joyful, and so fun to work with. Our group was large, with lots of specific needs and a packed schedule of meals and activities, and they stayed supportive throughout. They thought of everything, from evening s’mores to cold towels for hot afternoons, and made our guests feel comfortable and cared for. We can’t thank them enough.
