Quality Inn & Suites near St. Louis and I-255

It’s easy to get to, and there’s a grocery store nearby. That’s about all I can say in its favor. Saving a little compared with nearby places isn’t worth it. The room wasn’t swept, with someone’s fingernails left on the laminated floor, and there was a stain on our pillow. The AC screeched so badly we couldn’t keep it running, leaving the room hotter than we wanted. We also found a nasty cockroach in the room, and I don’t want to bring one home in my luggage. Breakfast wasn’t impressive compared with other hotels. There were three cereals, yogurt, sliced bread, steamed sausage patties and scrambled eggs, apple and orange juice, a make-your-own waffle, and coffee. That was it. I’d pass on this hotel.

The manager’s response is still pending. It’s 11 pm, and I was told to wait until 8 am tomorrow. I’m not sleeping in this room. They first put me in a room that smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, but they switched me. On the first day in the new room, the toilet flooded, and I noticed black mold growing on the ceiling. They said they couldn’t move me to another room or relocate me to another hotel. I work in mold remediation. The toilet water was sewage, which means stage 3 contamination and an uninhabitable room. The mold looks like it may be stachybotris, or black mold, based on its appearance and growth pattern, though I’d consider that stage 2. It can cause a range of health problems. I’m already exposed to it every day at work, and I don’t want to come back to my hotel and live with it while traveling for the job. Absolutely unacceptable.

It used to be a really nice, convenient place. This time I found two roaches in 30 minutes and packed up fast so I wouldn’t have passengers in my luggage. They refunded me immediately, which was the highlight of the trip.

There were crumbs in the chairs and hair all over the bathroom. The room hadn’t been cleaned, and there’s a roach infestation. Watch your step at night. Not worth the money saved.
