Home2 Suites By Hilton Calhoun

I had clearly told the front desk before arriving that I needed a king suite, preferably with two rooms so I could take early work calls privately. I also asked for the fourth floor, at the end of the hall, away from noise and foot traffic. I'm in Calhoun on business for four weeks and had booked my first week at the Home2 Suites based on a recommendation. Those seemed like reasonable requests for a work trip where I need quiet and privacy. Instead, virtual check-in showed me assigned to a two-queen suite, which I hadn't booked or approved. They said the hotel was overbooked. That's not my responsibility, and I shouldn't have been penalized for their mismanagement. After I raised the issue, they put me in a first-floor handicap room, which I hadn't requested and had specifically hoped to avoid. I don't need an accessible room and prefer to leave those for guests who do. The first-floor placement also ignored the noise concerns I'd already raised. I was told to come back after 3 PM and they'd move me to a standard king suite on a higher floor. After a long workday, I returned to find nothing had been done. Though staff had apparently been told about my situation, no room was held and all king suites were now “unavailable.” Online listings seemed to show otherwise. The lack of follow-through, accountability, and urgency was incredibly frustrating. Staff acted nonchalant and showed little care or organization. I'm now looking at leaving tonight for a Marriott, and I won't stay at this location again regardless of availability. As a business traveler, I count on professionalism, reliability, and basic follow-through, and this fell far short. Based on this stay, I'd strongly advise people looking for a Calhoun hotel to avoid this Home2 Suites. The lack of coordination, communication, and care speaks for itself.

The free breakfast and quiet room made for a restful stop on our drive to Tybee Island. We found the hotel clean, modern, and comfortable, with plenty of space and everything we needed in the room. Staff were welcoming, and even though we checked in late, it was quick and easy. It’s right off I-75, with restaurants and shops close by. A reliable choice around Calhoun.

Madonna made check-in easy and got us a first-floor room near the lobby, breakfast area, and pool. Our two-year-old needed milk, and she kindly brought us milk and water for the evening. The clean, comfortable room worked well for our family of six. It’s a newer hotel, with lots of restaurants nearby, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Celeste and the staff did a fabulous job accommodating our family and friends for our daughter’s wedding. The firepit seating was a nice place to gather after the rehearsal dinner and wedding, and the noon checkout gave us time to pack everything up. Our rooms were spacious, with a sitting area that could convert to another bed and a kitchen area with a full-size fridge. The free continental breakfast was delicious, with fresh waffles, potato wedges, eggs, sausage, and plenty more. We had a great weekend, better than we expected, and would recommend the hotel if you’re in the area.
