AmeriVu Inn & Suites - Gilbertsville

The pool was green with slime, and there wasn't even an ice machine. We'd called four weeks ahead and reserved two rooms together on the first floor at the back. When we arrived, only one room matched; the other was upstairs at the front. The woman at the desk wouldn't help fix it, which felt very unprofessional. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

The woman at reception was nice, but the building looked like a war zone, and the room was icky. There were blood-like marks on the bedding and sticky surfaces. The toilet leaked and the bathroom floor was wet. We slept on top of the covers, then left early in the morning without showering. We had booked this hotel again for a return trip, but cancelled it. Don't trust the pictures.

The location was great and the staff were friendly and willing to help, but the rooms were terrible. I was here on business for three weeks and had to change rooms three times because of cockroaches. They eventually put me in a newly renovated first-floor room, but roaches started showing up again within a day. When I told the staff, they said the owners wanted them to mix the chemicals themselves and spray each room.

We stumbled on this place while driving across the country and liked it enough to add another night before heading on. The price was great, it was peaceful, and the woman at the lobby desk was very kind. Breakfast was nice, and they allow pets. The pool wasn't open because of the colder weather, so I can't really comment on it, though they do have one. If we're in this area again, we'll stop here. Definitely recommend it as a place to stay.
