Hilton Garden Inn Riverhead

The maintenance staff, housekeeping, security, and chef were all kind and professional, but the front desk and food and beverage service were unacceptable. On several occasions, including Sunday morning, front desk staff were gossiping and responded to basic questions with eye-rolling and an attitude, as though guests were interrupting them. On Saturday, the attendant checking in our large group complained throughout and said, “I’m the only one here so everyone can wait.” It made us feel like a burden. The kitchen bar was unwelcoming too. The bartender looked visibly upset when busy, and the waitress seemed bothered by orders. On Friday night the pool was unsupervised and rowdy, with intoxicated people carrying glass bottles, children diving and wrestling without supervision, and footballs being thrown around. It made other guests uncomfortable. When people reported it at the desk, nobody was there to help. My family couldn’t enjoy the pool or restaurant, which was why we booked. If you’re unhappy with your job, it’s time to look for another one. I know the industry has staffing challenges, but the hostility and unprofessionalism were a poor reflection on the Hilton brand. I hope this feedback helps improve service at this location.

We came for a relaxing Friday evening with friends, but the experience was far from relaxing. The dining area is open, and a large family arrived with children running around and jumping on the furniture. The drinks tasted watered down, and my chicken sandwich was very salty, with a roll so dry it fell apart. We also had to get up and ask about two of the six dinners. One couple was only about five minutes late, but the bartender wouldn’t honor the happy hour price for their beer. We enjoy going out at a few hotels and restaurants around Riverhead, but this won’t be one of them. I don’t recommend dining here.

It’s a clean place with a nice indoor pool, outdoor hot tub, gym, and restaurant. The curtains in our room wouldn’t close, and the maintenance guy couldn’t fix them, so we used a clothing Pin to keep them shut.

The rooms were clean and updated, and the TV had streaming options. It’s a nice modern hotel with plenty of current Hilton amenities. Parking is free, and there’s a nice bar in the lobby.
