Most rooms don’t have ocean views, and the windows face a small parking area between the rows of guest rooms. You can open them when it’s warm, but keeping the curtains open is a little awkward. It didn’t affect our stay much, though it’s useful to know when booking. The lodge is cute and has a relaxed, beachy feel. Our room was a good size and comfortable, and the small included breakfast was a convenient start to the day. Staff were friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived. They left an arrival gift for us and our pups, then surprised us with a small gift at checkout too. It’s a charming place with excellent service, and we’d happily return.

It was easy to meet other solo travelers, and eating at the bar never felt lonely. The area has a welcoming, social atmosphere, while still letting you make the stay as quiet and relaxed or as active as you want. Cambria Beach Lodge made a safe and fun home base for exploring, dining, and enjoying the region. Thanks to the friendly staff, from the front desk to housekeeping, who made the visit even better. I booked three nights and ended up staying a full week, which I’m glad I did. Cambria sits between so many beautiful coastal places. I took day trips north to Monterey and south to Solvang, passing charming small towns and more upscale coastal communities. Nearby there’s shopping, dining, wine tasting, casual bike rides along the coast, and hiking trails where you can unwind and enjoy the scenery. It’s an ideal destination for solo travelers, especially single women.

We’re already making plans to come back. The neighborhood felt quiet, peaceful, and safe, and the staff were inviting and friendly. Our room didn’t have a mini fridge, but we didn’t mind since we’d brought a cooler and there’s an ice machine. We appreciated the light breakfast, with hard boiled eggs, pastries, fresh fruit, and coffee or tea. The room fan was handy too, since one of us gets hot easily. Because of our Hyatt member status, we were pleasantly surprised with an upgrade and a bottle of sparkling wine. The hotel is right by the ocean, within walking distance of plenty of restaurants, and the lobby and common area are cute with gorgeous ocean views. This was our favorite stay of the trip.

We were greeted with a bottle of bubbly and a handwritten welcome card. Who does that? The details throughout the rooms and property were so well thought out that we were blown away, even though the full inside motor court crowded with cars took away from the first impression. It’s clearly a converted motor lodge, but it’s one of the nicest, most thoughtfully arranged places I’ve stayed. The room was clean, with no trace of mold in the shower, premium shampoo and conditioner, fluffy towels, and beach blankets for cool evenings. They even had umbrellas available for rainy weather. The lobby’s coastal decor was beautiful, and breakfast was simple but elevated, with excellent coffee and treats like lemon cake with real ginger. It’s obvious the owners put real thought into the details and likely listen to guest feedback.

There are lovely hiking and walking trails nearby, and town is a short drive away with plenty of shops and restaurants. The beautiful lobby has ocean views and serves a nice breakfast each day. Staff and the general manager are welcoming and very helpful. It’s a charming little hotel on the coast in Cambria’s Moonstone beach area. The rooms are comfortable, modern, tastefully decorated, and super clean. Some have gas fireplaces.
