We’d stay here again. The breakfast was good, with pancakes, toast, muffins, coffee, and juice, and the staff went out of their way to help, carrying our bags upstairs and mailing back the spare glasses I’d left behind. The room was clean and comfortable, with an electric fireplace, though not every room has one. The hotel is across from the ocean. Some rooms have a partial ocean and sunset view; most face the parking lot and pool, but were quiet and may have had a small view. The price was reasonable for the area.

That walk along the boardwalk across the road was one of the highlights of our time on the central coast. My partner and I went in the morning, after a last-minute plan brought us to Castle Inn for one night. Check-in was easy, and the staff were welcoming right from the start. The room was simple but spacious, and we had no trouble using all the amenities. The heated pool has heaters nearby for warming up afterward, plus there’s a fire pit. It was too cold that night for us, so we opted for the hot tub and looked at the stars instead. I’m writing this already missing the stay. It became a core memory, and we’ll definitely come back.

The wooden walkway between the hotel and the beach runs for about a mile, and it’s a nice walk any time of day. The hotel is right across the street from the beach in Cambria, California. Our room was clean and recently remodeled, and having air conditioning was a big plus.
