I’ve stayed here a lot over the years, though it’s been a few years since my last visit, and it’s still beautiful. The rooms are spacious and excellent, the rates are reasonable, and the staff are nice. The location is excellent, with everything there, plus a nice lobby bar and great food. I used to come when I lived around the way with my mother and needed to get out 😂. I’ve stayed in enough hotels already, but I’d come back here. Y’all should check it out for a quick, chic getaway.

I was at Freepoint Hotel Cambridge July 12-14 2024, in Room 211. The place was clean and comfortable and served its purpose, but the front desk service was awful. I could charge dinner and breakfast to my room without anyone asking for ID or checking that I was registered there. They were happy to take my money. Yet after I accidentally locked myself out, they refused to give me a key because my name wasn’t on the reservation. My husband, whose name was on it, was out shopping with his family. I couldn’t get back into my room, which was a huge inconvenience, and they treated me disrespectfully, like a criminal who might enter someone else’s room and steal. It felt like they mistrusted customers unless they were spending money, which seemed to be the hotel’s only goal. If you want friendly service, stay away.

The property was clean and well cared for, the staff were really helpful, and the location worked great for me. Alewife station is about a ten minute walk away, and shops and restaurants are all around, including grocery stores and a pharmacy. This hotel was much better than I expected from the past reviews. I don’t know whether management has changed or they’ve started paying attention to reviews, but if I return to Cambridge, I’ll stay here again.

Freepoint was much more helpful than Expedia when I realized I’d booked the wrong date. The front desk was superb and helped sort it out. The location helped keep the price down. It was comfortable, though nothing that made me say wow. The room met our needs and checked all the boxes. It’s a handy starting point for getting to Boston and the surrounding areas. Thanks!

There’s a table in the room but no chair, so if you’re working you have to drag it over to somewhere you can sit. The room also has a laundry rack that made it feel like sleeping in a laundromat. I thought it had been left there by mistake, but apparently it’s supposed to be there. There weren’t any luggage stands either. Since I was alone, I used the bed for my luggage, but I’d rather have had a stand than that rack. At the bar, the bartender moved the pop dispenser and gnats flew out. I swatted a few while sitting there. Breakfast isn’t included, and you have to pay for the pricey meal on top of the overpriced room.
