Sheraton Commander Hotel

The trip into central Boston takes a little more effort, but a direct train gets you there in under half an hour, including the walk to the station. The location is especially convenient if you're staying around Harvard. The recently remodeled rooms were lovely, with a nice bathtub and comfortable beds. Staff were professional, friendly, and always helpful. Great hotel.

I enjoyed the room, restaurant, and location at this older hotel, which is in a great spot near Harvard Square. During the extensive renovations in November 2025, though, there was noise and plenty of debris being moved through the lobby. I'll return once the work is finished.

The restaurant opening at 7 a.m. is a bit late if you have plans in the area. Still, the location, service, and my particular suite were all excellent. I can highly recommend this hotel.

We first came to the Sheraton Commander four years ago on a friend's recommendation, and we've returned whenever we visit our son at college nearby. It may not be the newest or trendiest place around, but it's clean, comfortable, well located, and its staff go above and beyond. I travel a lot, and a gem like this deserves recognition. The people are what keep bringing us back. The low staff turnover speaks to a positive culture, and everyone seems to take real pride in the guest experience. Katelynn, Lisa, Fabiola, and Kevin at the front desk are especially hospitable. At NuBar, Rudy makes fabulous omelets, and Richard, the manager, checks that everything is right. Greg, the assistant manager, is incredibly helpful and professional with group or company stays. Valet attendants take great care of the car, the front desk welcomes you warmly, and the hardworking housekeeping team keeps the rooms spotless. NuBar consistently serves great meals, especially breakfast. It feels like one big family, and we feel at home here.
