The room worked out, but the stay was only manageable, with several things that need attention. We booked for six, and the room we got was much smaller than expected and didn’t feel spacious enough for our group. Breakfast was okay, nothing special. The floor mats had several marks that made the room seem less clean and cared for. There was no bathroom exhaust fan or hair dryer, which was inconvenient.

We booked at the last minute because this was the closest option to my son’s tournament and one of the more affordable ones. The location was convenient, but the hotel’s condition and lack of help from staff made the night disappointing. I’ve stayed at many Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express properties, and this was probably the most dated of them. The heater didn’t work, the toilet had flushing problems, and I didn’t feel comfortable during our one-night stay. Breakfast choices were very limited, the coffee machine was out of order, and staff weren’t very helpful when we asked for assistance.

We’ve stayed at Holiday Inn Express hotels in several states and are loyal to the brand, but this was the worst room quality we’ve encountered. The staff were hospitable and professional throughout, and the location deserves five stars. The room, though, had a strong mildew odor, with thick, humid, stuffy air. The carpet was filthy, with visible stains and spots everywhere. There were scuffs on the walls and dust on the ceiling and the top of the clothes cabinet. The mildew smell and sticky feel were impossible to get past. I hope Holiday Inn Express seriously updates the rooms, starting with the carpets, and finds a way to fix the odor and poor air quality.

The room carpet smelled unbearable, and the property badly needs renovation. Someone smoked on the fifth floor at a place that should be smoke free, setting off the alarm. The whole hotel was evacuated into the cool evening for almost two hours. There was no apology, explanation, or refund. I also think there should be rooms set aside for guests with service animals because other guests may be allergic to pet dander. The rooms are outdated and in dire need of work.
