Colonel Spencer Inn

Tracy is a heck of a cook. She made homemade Dutch babies for us, and they were delicious. The house was peaceful and clean, with lots of history and charm, and Jim and Tracy made us feel like special guests throughout our stay at the Colonel Spencer Inn. We were there for my husband’s birthday, and they surprised us with chocolate covered strawberries and champagne in the room. Such a thoughtful touch. We felt very spoiled and would gladly recommend this bed and breakfast.

Breakfast was delicious every morning, and I’d highly recommend this lovely Bed and Breakfast. The house is older but very well kept. It’s in a great location, with a small local town nearby and many more tourist-heavy areas about 30 minutes away.

Tracy and Jim, the owners, are simply wonderful. We felt welcome and at home, and breakfast was divine both mornings. It was our first time staying here, and it’s exactly the New England B and B experience we were looking for. The location is excellent, close to both Plymouth and Waterville Valley.

Tracy’s breakfasts were fantastic, starting with a fruit parfait that was to die for. The main dish changes between sweet and savory depending on the chef’s choice that day, and either one will leave you wanting more. There’s lots to do around the area, from easy snowshoeing on the many trails to more challenging mountain exploring, plus plenty of restaurants in Plymouth and nearby. The Colonel Spencer Inn has a great mix of old and new in its décor, furnishings, and amenities. The place has a lot of charm and offers a feel for colonial life. You can hear about its history from the Inn Keepers, Tracy and Jim, or look through the materials in the common living room. Ask about the secret hiding area. If you’re after a unique experience, it won’t disappoint.
