A roomy, warm cabin with a firm bed, which I really liked. We were there in late October and the scenery around the Asheville area was lovely. Just know that there’s no cell service, and Wi-Fi is only available at the main cabin house. You can book meals there, though I preferred driving about half an hour into downtown Asheville to eat.

The people and the setting are what make this place. There are lovely trails right from the property, including waterfall hikes, and it’s a short drive to more great hikes, Sliding Rock, and Asheville. You’ll also find horses, donkeys, fishing ponds, and a pool. The cabins are rustic, but my family liked having a few nights without a TV, and there’s a game room too. The food was delicious, made with old-time family recipes, and coffee was always available. I’m already looking at dates for a fall trip.

My aunt’s wedding was here, and I’ve loved this place as an event venue for years. I’m really going to miss it. ♥️

Our cabin worked well for people with mobility issues, though it might be the only one set up that way. The kids had a great time in the pool, hiking, and horseback riding, and we enjoyed the activities that were in accessible locations. One activity was held somewhere that wasn’t accessible. The people were wonderful, and the food was fantastic. We hope to come back soon.

The farm itself is beautiful, with lovely fields, a barn, antiques, and a great atmosphere. The staff were attentive, too. But I wouldn’t make a trip here for the food. The meal was so salty that we had to take the skin off the fried chicken and still couldn’t get away from the salt. I’m a WNC native and know country-style cooking, and our family won’t be returning after this visit. We hadn’t been back in a few years. If you’re coming to see the historic farm and fields, go ahead, but I’d eat beforehand. The staff said the farm had been sold to the state of North Carolina and might close in a few years. It’s a beautiful property, but I wouldn’t come just for a meal again. For over $23.00 per person for 14 people, plus tip, I could make plenty of food myself, and I’ve done that many times.
