Springhill Suites BY Marriott Canfield

Wow, the rooms at this new hotel are huge, with tons of space to spread out. The customer service has been top-notch so far, everyone super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was one of the best too.

The staff I dealt with were so kind, especially the woman working breakfast, who is truly an angel. The front desk people were always helpful and kind too. Housekeeping also came quickly to inspect the room and change the bedding when I called, and the front desk woman was very apologetic. But the room's cleanliness is why I'm giving 2 stars. There were loose pills left by a previous guest under the bed, in the sheets, and on the floor. With a pet and baby traveling with us, that was worrying. I also found crumbs and food between the sheets. When I stripped the bed to request fresh sheets, I saw blood smears and other odd stains on the mattress cover. Three different staff members told me the general manager would talk to me about making things right, but the GM never contacted me. Instead, staff said I would get points for future use. I appreciate the points, but they weren't close to the value of even part of my stay. Working in hotels can be hard, and maybe someone was having a bad day and missed things. Still, I was too nice about letting the severity of it slide with the GM, and should have pushed for a more appropriate outcome. I'm not sure I'd stay again. To the staff I spoke with directly, thank you for being so kind.

The location is perfect, and I like the look of the room, but the design wastes space and makes staying here uncomfortable. We spent 6 nights in a king suite, and there was no dresser, just one closet for two people's clothes for 6 days and evenings. The room supposedly holds up to 4 people. The lighting was terrible throughout, and we couldn't even see into the closet to find our clothes. The TV is mounted where it hits your shoulder whenever you walk past. The bed wasn't very comfortable, and the pillows were awful. It's too bad, since we're from the area and this could've been a great place to stay when we visit family.

Breakfast had plenty of choices, and the lady working there was nice. I wish they'd serve bacon instead of some fake Canadian bacon. The rooms are ridiculously small, with wasted space and a bathroom right in front of the beds, which I really dislike. The shower is tiny and hard to use. Outside, the fake grass looks gross, and our room looked onto a construction site with what seemed like a bunch of trash sitting there. I saw a bug in it too. The towels were itchy, there was random hair, and a big in the bathroom.
