Fairfield Inn & Suites By Marriott Ashland

It’s easy to get back on the highway from here, which is handy for commuters. There’s gas and Tex-Mex next door, and the hotel sits right beside the Ashland mall, now converted to Malibu Jack’s. The rooms are dated but clean and stocked. Staff were friendly, quick, and good at their jobs. Breakfast was impeccable and set out early.

The service was absolutely awesome, and everyone on staff was super kind and nice. Latifa at the front desk deserves a special mention. The hotel itself is a bit old and could be looked after better.

The location is good, but cleanliness was nowhere to be seen. Our family had several rooms, with dirty showers and curtains, hair and other grime, and showerheads that need replacing or cleaning. Showers didn't drain properly, toilet paper was so thin it looked clear, and there were no trash bags in the bins. We could hear people above, below, beside us, and down the hall, including a bed rocking upstairs and kids crying all night. The pool always seemed to be occupied by the same four people, as if they lived there. Parking can't accommodate RVs, campers, trailers, large trucks, or buses. The gym has only a few cardio machines. Breakfast was poor at best, and staff were difficult. One woman was nice, but the rest were awful and weren't good at helping or getting answers. It felt like they spend nothing on essentials. This place is an absolute dumpster.

For a work trip, I just wanted to unwind, but my first room was filthy: dead bugs, dirty carpet, blood on the sheets, and dusty beer cans behind the bed. Housekeeping had gone home for the day, so when I asked at the front desk, the worker moved me to a better room. It was a suite and much cleaner, though still below my standards. Then a coworker felt a bug crawling on her face as she was falling asleep and found a bed bug under her bed. This place needs a serious deep clean and needs to deal with its bed bug problem.
