I was a little worried before arriving since I booked through a third party and had read reviews about finding the place or reaching someone. It turned out to be easy to locate even without service, thanks to a huge billboard marking the turnoff. I’d also downloaded offline maps. I couldn’t find a good phone number to confirm the reservation or ask questions, but when we got there, our room information was posted outside the main office door. After busy days, I actually liked checking in that way. We spent a few hours at Kodachrome, then came back and cooked outside on our camp stove since there’s no kitchen. It was peaceful and beautiful, with a nice sunset and sunrise. The rooms were nice for resting, showering, and watching TV, and the Wi-Fi worked. We were alone for a while, though I think we saw about two other guests that night or the next day. You hardly notice the neighbors. The room came with a microwave, fridge, coffee machine, and bathroom hygiene items. I’d come back, and we got a great night’s sleep. The reviews were right about the spiders, though. Quite a few showed up in the room at night, but we survived!

The location was excellent, close to the state park and not far from Byrce, and check-in was easy. But the cleanliness was awful, which is why this could have been an easy five-star stay if the place were clean. We booked house 12 about two months ahead, so there was plenty of time to get it ready. It looked like it might not have been cleaned since it was built. Dust, hair, and spider webs were everywhere, and the dust kept making our noses stuffy. On the second night we killed two beetles and a little worm-like thing. There was black mold on the shower ceiling and stains on the carpet. There was never anyone in the office, which was fine, but don’t expect to speak with someone. We wanted to leave a day early but couldn’t, so we stayed. Sorry for the bad review, but the dirt was so disappointing.
The cabins sit right among the canyons and mountains, with lovely patio views and a spectacular night sky. It’s an easy 20-minute trip to Bryce Canyon National park, which worked really well for our itinerary. Check-in was simple, the staff were attentive, and the cabins were clean and modern. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back if we visit Utah again!
It’s really peaceful here, and we’ll definitely stay again. The room has two queen beds, which are firm but still comfortable, even though I usually prefer a softer bed. Wi-Fi worked well, a real plus since cell service is so spotty around here except in the little town. We had good food at Showdowns in Tropic. The gas station grill had great fast food, and the pizza place was pretty good too. Kodachrome state park was peaceful, and Angels palace hike was worth doing for the wonderful views and fairly easy walk. The park fee was $10.
The place is new and has a lot of potential, in a peaceful, secluded setting. We stayed in cabin 12, which had two comfortable queen beds and heavy down comforters. It was quiet, and we could open the windows at night to cool the cabin down. An ice machine near the front office would be helpful. A toilet paper holder and maybe a table or luggage rack for a suitcase would be nice too.
