Grand Staircase Inn

The rooms feel like a home, almost like living in a huge house, and they’re huge and exceptionally clean. The staff were kind and the service was great. There’s no elevator, but the doors use cards and the rooms have central heating, so you don’t need to worry about noisy AC units. Breakfast isn’t included, though there’s free coffee, hot chocolate, and toast in the morning. The downstairs mini mart has drinks, snacks, and a variety of frozen food, including frozen pizzas that the staff will prepare for you. It’s handy when you’re too tired to drive to Tropic or Bryce for food. This is the best place you’ll find near Bryce Canyon, and I’d stay here on all my trips to the area. I hope I’ve made it clear how much I love this place!

The room was spacious and the location suited our plans, but that was about all I liked. It was dated, with old green carpeting, a loud mini fridge in the corner, and no table. The jacuzzi tub in the room above woke us up. The included breakfast felt like a scam, just coffee and toast, while everything else cost extra. We stayed in April 2015, but I’ve only just updated this review.

We really liked the room, which was large but still felt quaint, and the service was always friendly and helpful. It was convenient for local sights while staying away from the tourist hubs. We wanted to add a second night after our reservation ended, but they were fully booked.

For the price, it’s easy to recommend, especially with the roomy layout, big comfortable beds, and cleanliness. Staff were friendly, and it’s easy to get to Bryce. The room was a little dated, though, and upper floors are only reached by an outside staircase, so mention it early if mobility is an issue. There was a large fridge and small microwave, but no coffee maker in the room. One was supplied when we asked, though I couldn’t tell whether that was an oversight or rationing. Some TV channels had a poor signal, the internet was slow, and there was no mobile signal. Even so, it was better than some rooms I’ve stayed in recently for three times the price.
