Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Canyon by IHG

The billing mess after checkout is why this gets one star from me, whatever the final outcome turns out to be. My wife asked for a 50% discount on our one-night stay after the roofers woke us hours before checkout. The manager said she couldn’t do that, but offered 40%. I wondered whether that 10% difference was worth leaving us unsatisfied after that ox-cart noise overhead. We were promised a refund, but none came. After a long wait, my wife followed up and was promised it again. Still nothing. After another wait and contact, a refund was finally issued, then a little later the full amount was charged again. She contacted them again, got an apology and another promise to refund it. I don’t know if it will happen or stick this time. The noise was like oxen pulling a wooden cart with square wheels right above the ceiling. We’d checked in late the night before and were sleeping hard when it started. It turned out roofers were installing a new roof at this HIE. My wife was, to put it mildly, less than thrilled.

The breakfast room trash cans were overflowing, and the table where we sat was dirty. I told the front desk, and they said the kitchen worker would get to it. Twenty-five minutes later, the cans were still untouched, and I had to wipe down our table myself. That was the only thing that detracted from our stay.

Teresa at the front desk was so professional and kind, and the rest of the staff were awesome too. The room was spacious and very clean. Five stars all the way. I’ll only stay here next time I’m in the area!

We stayed on 1-2-26 and had a really rough experience. The room got far too hot, and the AC wouldn’t work. I tried calling the front office several times, but no one answered. Check-in also took a long time. The hot tub water was discolored and didn’t look okay to get into, and breakfast was limited because the oven was broken.
