Parkerton Inn

Both rooms were very clean and well maintained, and the rest of the stay was pretty all right. The continental breakfast left a lot to be desired, though at least there was something. The deadbolts were a big problem: in both rooms, they were either missing or got stuck so badly you had to fight to free them. It would have been a real issue if I couldn't get out through the door, especially since the window doesn't open.

I ended up leaving after just one night instead of staying the weekend, and I won't stay here again or recommend this hotel. The price quoted over the phone was 109, but I had to pay 145 when I arrived. The air conditioning wasn't on, and the room smelled very musty. The sink was stopped up; the desk said they'd fix it, but they didn't. I found a roach crawling in the dresser when I opened it to put my things away. I killed it and took it to the desk, where I was told to wait for the manager, who would arrive around 11. When I showed him, he said that's what happens when people leave doors open. He didn't apologize. There was hair on the bed and pillowcases, and no apology for that either. I have to give one star to post this, but this place gets no stars from me.

The only thing in this hotel's favor was the front desk's great customer service, which earns an extra star. Otherwise, this was awful. If you care about a clean room, don't stay here. I felt gross sleeping there and laid towels on the bathroom floor so I wouldn't have to touch the tile with my feet. There were dead bugs, the TV and lamp didn't work, and road noise was LOUD. Someone had called the location quiet, but it wasn't. There's no breakfast or snack machines, and the area didn't seem safe. At least it's close to the beach.

Check-in was very frustrating. The room looked nice overall, and I enjoyed my stay, but the pillows were trash lol. There was an old Gatorade bottle under the bed, and the tub could have been cleaner. They only provide shampoo, and god forbid you ask for more. Two male employees sat behind bushes at the pool watching us unload our car. There were tons of dead bugs on the walkway, including huge-looking cockroaches, though our room was clean and I didn't see any bugs in it. Pets are allowed, but there's a fee. It's not the best place, but it's okay.
