The service here was excellent. I booked two nights at first, then extended my stay by another three. The room wasn’t fancy, but it had a kitchenette with a mini-fridge, microwave, sink, coffee maker, and two electric stovetops. There’s also a pool and an on-site laundry room, and the front desk sold single-sized boxes of detergent. If you’re visiting on a budget, this is the place!
The setting and view were lovely, and the pool was clean and easily the best part, though the photo makes it look like there are more loungers than the two or so we saw. The beds were comfortable, the AC worked well, and thankfully there were bugs but no bed bugs. Mike was courteous, explained things clearly, and helped us when we needed it. We rented two rooms, and both needed more cleaning or a fresh coat of paint. There were marks on the walls, including what looked like feces in the bathrooms, and bugs. The shower head pointed at the wall, so showering meant hugging it. The upper door latch had a screw where a post should have been, so we had to screw it in and out to latch the door. The cleaning staff spoke very little English, which made communication difficult. We told the front desk not to work on an issue in our room while we were out and said we'd be back shortly. They went in anyway and had fixed it by the time we returned.
I've been here about a month since moving to Florida, and this place has been just what I needed. I feel safe, and several restaurants are an easy walk away. The rooms are simple, with a little kitchen and either a balcony or porch. Staff are the real standout: friendly, helpful, and accommodating. They're painting and updating some rooms now, so I expect the place to improve even more. With the quality, safety, and service here, I don't plan to look for another hotel.
The nicest parts were the location, just two blocks from the nursing home where I was visiting my dad, and the kind desk staff. Housekeeping did a great job every day. The room itself was moderately clean, but old and dated. The bed was comfortable, though the frame and box spring squeaked ridiculously loudly whenever I moved. The couple next door was VERY loud too, if you know what I mean. The kitchenette was clean but completely empty, without dishes, pans, or silverware. I usually stay in suites like this and have never found one with nothing at all, so getting the basics at Wal-Mart cost me $100 and ate into the savings over a newer hotel. The place is more or less what you'd expect from a resort hotel that was premium when built in the 80s, then went through multiple hurricanes and, I suspect, owners. It feels dated in its appearance, amenities, and general feel. There was a musty, moldy smell even though it was clean, and the room was relatively inexpensive. People are nice and it isn't some flop house, but the smell and bed are big strikes for me. I'm not sure I'd stay again.
I had a wonderful few nights at this fairly priced little place. It could use a bit of work, but I'd go back if I'm in the area again. The pool gave us a great sunset view, and the water canal was pretty cool, with fish and other sea creatures swimming around.
