Hatteras Sands Camping Resort

We camped here with our trailer and it's become a new favorite. The booking system was easy, check-in was a breeze, and you can tell they care about both the property and guests. The bathhouse was great, the pool was lovely, and we could hear the ocean waves. I expected road noise from looking at the map but didn't hear a thing. I'd personally like more space between sites, though with the location and amenities, it's worth it. Next visit, I plan to set my in-laws up in a cabin.

You can hear the ocean, and it's an easy walk to the water. We stayed in one of the cute cabins, where the beds were clean, comfortable, and inviting. The staff were amazing, answered our questions, and knew what to do around the area. Anything you need is available at their store or at the local grocery store, seven minutes away. It's an amazing place, and we definitely want to return.

Cassandra was helpful when we checked in and shared good tips about where to go in town. We walked and biked all over the island, which is very walkable. The Graveyard of the Atlantic museum at the end of the island is worth stopping at, and there's a great beach right in front where you can walk or bring a 4WD to fish. We also loved Lee Robertson’s General Store, and had great views of both sunrise and sunset. The campground was quiet and peaceful, with well-maintained grounds, bathrooms, and laundry room. The pool looked very nice. Thanks for a great stay!

The grounds and facilities are well maintained, and Kevin and his crew do a great job. Hatteras Sands Campground is essentially at the end of Hwy 12, and well worth the drive. Sites have room between them, and being alongside the canal adds fishing opportunities as well as extra openness.
