Quality Inn & Suites Caribou

The bed was very comfortable, and the rooms were okay, but the shower had mold on the ceiling. The showerhead was cracked and sprayed water onto the ceiling and wall. We’d booked two rooms with king beds. One was ready when I arrived; the other needed about ten more minutes, which was fine since the other person with me was still an hour away. Then the woman checking me in asked someone to check on the second room, and he told her to put us in a queen instead. I said no, since we’d paid for two kings, and the staff didn’t seem happy about that. They weren’t welcoming at check-in and made us feel like an inconvenience.

Breakfast was awful: the apples and bananas were rotten, there were just a few pieces of dried-out bread and a couple of bagels, only one kind of muffin, blueberry, and the cereal was bran flakes with raisins. There were about 20mls of milk left in the half gallon jug, and nobody was around to help. At checkout, we had to leave our keys in a drop box. We also didn’t get the beds we paid for. We booked two queen beds, but the room had two full XL beds. The attendant couldn’t be bothered to get off his phone when we raised it, so we were brushed off. It was late and our children needed rest, so we made do. After we contacted Expedia, the staff told them first that we hadn’t complained, then claimed they’d fixed the room and had documentation. That documentation was from after we’d checked out. If you expect to get what you paid for, attentive staff, and an edible breakfast like they advertise, I’d stay somewhere else.

I like staying here because the service is good and the price works for me. During the very cold seasons, my house doesn’t have much insulation, and I can’t afford to build quickly, so this motel lets me stay more days. My cat was comfortable, too. Our week here was wonderful, and the room was exceptionally comfortable, a relaxing place to come back to after a long day. The staff made a big difference. The young man at the front desk was consistently professional and knew the local area well, with helpful tips throughout our extended stay. The gentleman who cleaned our room was meticulous, and kept it pristine and welcoming. Both were dedicated to their work and always busy with useful tasks. We’d recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a welcoming, attentive team. Breakfast was occasionally made less pleasant by another guest who complained every morning about everything, from the wall color to there being no bananas by the time he arrived. He berated staff in ways that were unwarranted and untrue. That was the one recurring negative part of the atmosphere, and it had nothing to do with the hotel’s performance. The comfortable room and exemplary service made our stay memorable.
